Outlook2003 - SP1
WindowsXP SP2

If I have a mail in Outlook with an attachment and I want to save the
attachment to the desktop some kind of install-on-first-use runs. Does
anybody know what feature is installed here? When I have found out I want to
change that setting to "run from my computer".

Regards Anette

Also it seems to be an issue first time I want to save to desktop from
Word2003, Excel2003 ....

Any ideas?

Open Control Panel and choose Add or Remove Programs. Locate Microsoft
Office (or Office Outlook, if it's installed without Office) and click
Change. When the Setup Wizard appears, the "Add or Remove Features radio
button should be chosen. Click Next. You'll get a list of options. which
you can expand. If the icon for an option is white, it means the item is
installed. If there's an "X" in the icon, it means the option is not
installed (unavailable). If It it's gray, it means that some of the
suboptions are installed and some are not. If there's a little "1" in the
icon, it's "Installed on first use", which means that if you try to use it,
the Windows Installer will run and attempt to install the option from the
installation CD or folder. If you want to change it to "Run on my computer,
click the icon and change it to that selection.

Thanks for your answer. But i want to go to that very specific setting and
therefor I try to find out what is missing in my installation at the moment.

So, expand the options until you find the one that you want that is
"Installed on first use" and toggle it to show "Run on my computer".

And that is exactly what I ask for: Which setting am I missing to avoid this
installing the first time I want to save to desktop?

I can't tell exactly what's trying to install. Why not just let whatever is
trying to install to install? You won't have the problem again for that
component.
