Some Outlook Contacts Not Accessible In E-Mail

I've seen several variations of this problem posted, but none of them
fit my situation.

I'm using Outlook 2003, and I have some Contacts that do not show up
when writing an e-mail. For instance, I can type the contact's name in
the To: line, and the check names function does not find the name.
Similarly, if I click the To: button to bring up the address book, I
see 95% or more of the names from my Contacts, but I do not see the
ones with the problem. Also, any new contacts I create in Outlook do
not show up in the address book. This is a real problem.

I have verified that these contacts are not in a different Outlook
store by checking the various ones in the dropdown box in the upper
right hand corner.

I'm sure there is something easy to fix these. Just wish I knew what
it was!

Were this happening to me, the first thing I'd try is to delete the Outlook
Address Book from my profile, stop and restart Outlook, and add the service
back it.

Where are profile settings kept?

This has been converted from a local Contacts list to a Exchange Server
style (cache mode or whatever its called) by selecting all the contacts
from the local Contacts folder, and dragging them into the Exchange
Server Contacts folder. There is now nothing in the local version...

Don't know if this makes a difference.

For the OAB it's Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing directories
or address books>Next

Where is your delivery location? Look at the bottom of Tools>E-mail
Accounts>View or change existing e-mail accounts>Next

Actually, the secret was contained in the text at the top of the dialog
you get when you do this... It says, 'To designate a Contacts folder
as an Outlook Address Book, go to the Properties dialog box for the
Contacts folder. On the Outlook Address Book tab, select the "Show
this folder asan e-mail Address Book" check box.'

After I did this, all the addresses were now showing up... I've
cleaned things up by deleting the other OABs from the profile as you
suggested as well.
