i just done a friends re-installation of windows xp, during the installation
i did the windows re-format to the c: drive and all appeared fine until i
went into windows for the first time since the new installation.
i went in to the start menu and went to try and open the my computer icon
and it appeared that left clicking on any icons in the start menu failed as
the icon wouldn't open what its meant to. although right clicking the icon
seemed to be working fine.
this is also the case when i have a folder open, it doesn't do anything when
i click any of the icons in the window, including the close button (the red
cross on the top right corner). I have restarted the computer and did a scan
disk and it said that everything was ok.
Can anyone help me, its a real pain and i don't know what to do to fix it?
