It occurs when I log in after having locked my notebook. I have WinXP Home
with the latest updates. It is boring to always put back icons where they
were. Why does this happen? How can I solve this problem.
Thanks everybody in advance

Try this:

Right click on any empty area of the Desktop. Choose "Arrange Icons By"and
notice the "Auto-arrange" in the drop down list is probably checked.
Remove that check and the icons will stay put when you move them with
your mouse.

In addition to Pop's suggestion, Kelly has a little script on her site that
will insert two commands into the context menu when right clicking a blank
area of the desktop, Save Desktop Layout and Restore Desktop Layout. First
save the layout, then if something messes with it , Restore it.

Line 188: Add Save & Restore Desktop Layout to Menu

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.

Pop,
Auto arrange is not set. I also tried to increase folder view limit (line 2
from Kelly's website). It worked for some days then icons started to move
again.
The odd thing is that only icons in a certain position move (the second-last
row of the desktop) and only after I lock the computer.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks to all,

Did you try the script from Kelly's site I posted for you?

Rock,
I tried the script and it works pretty good. But some icons are restored on
line down their original position. This is boring, since the problem is the
same I posted.
Anyway, I found out that icon don't move if I change by one the vertical
space between icons, setting it to 44, instead of the 43, the default. This
way I have 9 rows of icons instead of 10. Just to let you know, but I've
given up with this thing.
Thanks everybody,

Hi everybody!
I found the solution! I waited some days before posting the feedbeack to be
sure this solution works.
None of the solutions suggested worked, so I tried to decrease icon spacing
on desktop (horizontal and vertical). Default is 43, I decreased both to 40
and icons don't move any more. Maybe it's enough to decrease vertical spacing
and I think the number of pixel depends on screen resolution.
Anyway it works! Just to let you know...
Thansk everybody.

Curious. Thanks for posting back the resolution.
