some applications close automatically

When I tried to open DOS prompt or regedit, the DOS prompt or regedit will automatically close after several seconds. How do I prevent this?

How about msconfig or task manager - do they do the same thing? If so, then
you are likely infected with a virus. While you clean it up, you can use the
emergency tools here:
