hello i am having a problem that i can not find the answer for online,
so maybe a savy person can help me. i recently reformatted my harddrive
with a legit copy of windows xp pro that i get from my school with a
unique cd key. i activated online and had no problems. now all of a
sudden, i recieve the infamous activation loop problem that goes as
follows..
your copy of windows is not activated please do so (click ok)
your copy of windows has been activated (sends back to logon screen)
and repeat
i have looked at different tips to fix this problem but i cannot find
one the helps me. the problem is with mine is that i cannot log the
computer into safe mode, i just get a popup that says the computer
cannot be activated in safemode and a loop is created asking for
logins. is there anyway i can get past this problem because i have gigs
of music and photos that i cant afford to lose. i also have the cd copy
of windows if anybody is familar with the recovery console in dos(i can
do a little but by myself would probably ruin something trying to fix
it) anyway any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

When you formatted with the Legal Copy of XP how did you do the formatting? Did you have a illegal copy of XP installed before? Did you do a Repair install or what exactly did you do when you formatted.

I have seen this problem when there was an pirated copy of XP installed and it was overwritten with a legal copy.

Did you reformat completely and do a clean install of the legal XP.

Let us know.
