Solution for hoax?

I have been receiving the message "Entry point GetIUMS
could not be located in the dynamic link library
MSDART.DLL". Whatever that means, it has disrupted my
ability to download SP2 - and my computer informs me that
it is now "unstable" and I need to uninstall SP2. That
is also a problem, since the installation was disrupted
and it is not there to UNinstall!!!

I fear that this is related to an email hoax I fell for a
few weeks ago and haven't been able to correct.

Any Ideas???
