Software setup freezes...

I've never had a problem installing software on this
machine until recently. Now when I run a setup file, about
half the time the progress bar just hangs at zero percent.
The program itself does no freeze or stop responding, it
just hangs and does nothing. Any suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks

Are you running Norton Personal Firewall or Norton
Internet Security? If so, jump ahead about 25 pages or so
in the newsgroup and look for a post from me with the
same kind of heading as yours. I and a guy named Ninja
had the same problem and ours was related to a problem
with NIS after running a Windows Update for DirectX. IF
the same situation applies to you then you could read how
to "fix" it. If not, sorry for wasting your time.
