I have home & landscape software I am wanting to load on
windows xp. The software states it is for windows 98 or
higher. When I try to load the software it says I need a
windows nt service pack. I downlaoded the service pack
and it still won't let me load the software. What am I
doing wrong?

NT is a a different operating system than XP. I don't know what affect
it has by installing the service pack. Frankly, I'm surprised it installed.

The real issue here is that you have older software that is resisting
your effort to install on XP. Normally, Win 98 programs work ok on XP,
but in this instance sounds like your software looks and decides not to
play.

Suggest you contact the vendor, or go to their web site, and see if an
upgrade for XP is available yet.
