Software problem with DVD CD ROM ON PAVILLION ZT 1000

This is a software problem - the DVD/CD ROM has stopped running on my HP
Pavillion ZT-1000 - there are some filters that need to be reset - my buddy
who recently died knew how to do this - does anyone out there know how to
reset the filters to get the DVD/CD ROM to operate again?

MVP Doug Knox has a utility on the following page to remove the filters:

After applying either of these, restart the computer. The drives will be
re-detected with the default XP/IMAPI information in place. At that point,
you can reinstall your burning application if you desire more features than
what the native XP CD burning offers.
