Hi,

WinXP does not provide for direct hardware access, which is what the
software is looking for. Please contact the software manufacturer for a
workaound or other solution. This may require an upgrade or update to the
software.

I don't doubt it, but I am using a dongle with Windows 2000 Pro so
that is one alternative for him.

Depends largely on the software and how it is supported. Win2K is different
from WinXP in many respects, and this is apparently one of them. WinXP does
not allow for any program to have direct hardware access, so things like the
dongle are not going to work, and software distributors will need to come up
with other solutions for their customers.
