soaring commit charge

I've set windows to manage the pagefile,currently at 603Mb.My RAM
384Mb.Defrag done.Deletion of pagefile done previously.
1)I took off all the services&start progs in msconfig,got :
commit 170Mb(18%),20 processes,cpu 1%
2)loaded back (in mscofig) NAV,SPFirewall, got commit 216Mb(24%),31 processes.
3)with ATI suite commit goes to 300Mb,processes 37
At other times the PF usage hits 700Mb.Is too high?I wonder what could be
the cause.

Where are you getting the numbers for page file usage? From task manager or
from a utility? If from task manager I suggest you download a utility from
Doug Knox site (a compiled VB version of the original by MVP Bill James).
This will tell you how much of the page file is actually being used, not
just what is allocated to it.
