So after Vista comes out, we would talk about the technical stuff here again &again?

Hi, all. I just wonder that...Is it that new technology (OS) comes out for
humans' convinience,or human being sacrifice the time debugging and fixing
all the various technical problems that comes with the use of every new OS
produced by MS.

I have used Windows XP for several years and asked lots of questions that I
encoutered here on the newsgroups . And eventually I almost "master" how to
install the system, make the system work more smoothly and easily recovered
for me. But now Microsoft announced their new
cutting-edge..breakthrough..Operating System-Vista. So if I want to keep
pace, I must adjust myself to adapt to the new system, learn how to operate
it and fix all the new emerging problems\questions? I felt I was a servant
for my computer when I used it for the first time. And as the technology
updates, I felt that way stronger than before...perhaps not only for new
system, but also for the ever-updating versions of application programs?
What a headache! Couldn't the system be a servant for humans, not the vice
versa?

Ironically it's usually those who know the least [technologically] that have
technology as their slave, rather than their master. Very few world leaders,
if any, would know the first thing about msconfig, or sfc /scannow or
32-bit assembly language, but they may have the power to press a button to
obliterate an entire nation if they so chose.

But it's those who keep striving to fully master the ever-expanding bubble
of knowledge who are in the greater danger of becoming increasingly its
slaves.

So my advice would be either do it because you have a genuine love of
technology and you gain real enjoyment / excitement from it, or not at all.
If your goal is to fully master everything you will not succeed.
 
I agree with you!
Realistically speaking though...there will always be issues with new
operating systems regardless who designs them...That is why they are
installed as beta programs to be used and tested and reports filed on
any bugs that are detected.

There are millions of lines of scripting that goes into designing an
operating system and there are going to be errors...Finding all the
errors takes time and repairing them is dependent upon how accurate
the reporting was and whether they can be duplicated again in the
test machine....

There are a lot of people that test beta programs thinking how cool it
is to test them before it becomes public...the problem is that they
have no business testing and reporting the errors as they report it
as

"I tried to open so and so file and it didn't open" This
kind of reporting is useless to the designers as it tells them
nothing other than "so and so file" refused to open...The
designers then have to wait till other reports are filed dealing with
the exact same issue so that they can trace back the keystrokes and
know what was happening when the problem occurred.

The thing to remember is that :
1) you should always keep your system backed-up. In doing so it
becomes less intimidating if an error occurs.
2) Always use updated anti-virus/spyware removal utillities.
3)Keep your system updated with the lates updates
4)Don't be afraid to ask questions concerning the programs and
hardware.
The more you familiarize yourself with your computer.. the more
secure you become in solving issues yourself..

Or you can just wait it out for a few years before you make the jump
to vista (Highly recommended)
