SMTP mail automation

Is there a way to send mail from Access via SMTP by specifying server name,
sender name, etc. rather than using a mail client?
 
Thanks. Why reinvent the wheel? The one that looks best to me there is the
link to Klaus Oberdalhoff's work, where he has an SMTP mailer already set up.
Unfortunately, it's in German, so I guess I'll be digging out my German
dictionary to figure it out.
