SMTP authentication fails

Hi,

When i try to send e-mails through an ISP other than my e-mail provider, it
fails unless sending internally. I am unable to get SMTP authentication to
work and my ISP categorically states that it is a Microsoft issue.

As this is British Telecom - one of the biggest broadband providers in the
UK i would suggest it's a fairly big issue.

This issue did not happen pre Outlook 2007 and the SMTP authentication wont
work even when i'm on the internet service the e-mail is associated with.

I know others have asked similar questions but there is no solution that
works for me.

thanks in advance

My understanding is that BT uses Yahoo for its mailbox services. Is this
true? If so, what servers and ports are you specifying?

Hi Brian,

The BT yahoo stuff is really for home users, i use their business accounts
with the smtp servers:

smtp.btconnect.com / mail.btconnect.com

I'm using port 25

Cheers

Andy
