smart docs

Is it possible in smart docs to enter a cust# in a textbox on the task panel,
get the smart doc to query sql db for cust info then automatically fill in
the cust info into specific fields on the smart doc? im new to this smart
doc/ado/vb.net thing so pls forgive me if my question is too broad.

Yes it is. You write a DLL to call from the XSLT attached to the
document. This DLL uses the Task Pane and any other Word bits you
need.

You should address such questions to the office.developer.smarttags
newsgroup, where smart document questions are handled. you've posted
in an end-user newsgroup, which is why it took so long for you to get
any kind of an answer.
