Hi all, I have a small problem. I have been given the task of creating a
spreadsheet for work. One of the things I am trying to do requires that I
have an in-cell drop down list. I have created a vaildation list ( as per
http://www.uis.edu/ctl/training/detailedtips/exceldropdown.htm ) BUT..and
here is where the problem is..the list has to be able to let the user input
a number which is NOT on the source list. Is there anyway I can achieve
this?

TIA,
PE1

Hi, thanks for the speedy reply! That is 99% what I am looking for, BUT...I
dont really want the new numbers that I put into the list to appear and be
saved on the source list. Is there anyway this can be done? Or do I need to
chnage from a validation list altogether?

I have a validation list that allows entries, but I'm not
sure how I did it! It's set up as a list and has the
source data on the next page. The "in-cell" box is
checked but the "Ignore blank" isn't. And the "Error
Alert" box on the Error Alert tab isn't checked. Maybe
that's the key?

Thanks Patti - That has sorted it :-)
