I purchased a centrino laptop computer which pre-install Windows XP home
edition. I tried to setup a small home network with another computers.
After I ran the setup wizard, everything seem fine, and it suposes to have a
"My network place" show up in "Start" menu. But there is nothing there. I
tried use direct interenet plug-in and wireless internet. No help, and
nothing. Is it something do with the Windows XP home edition? or the laptop
hardware? Please help.

What exactly are you asking? Does your network work or not? My Network
Places can be added to your desktop, but is not necessarily placed on the
start menu. You can also access My Network Places from My Computer.

Hi

You need to explain what your Network is comprised of, and how the whole
thing is connected together?

You need a Wireless source. To what the New Laptop is suppose to connect to?

What is the nature of your Internet connection?

Here is an example to how a one type of Network looks like:

Jack (MVP-Networking).

My setup is same as the picture shown with wireless router. 2 desktop
computer and 1 laptop computer. I want to setup these 3 computer in a small
home network. The 2 desktop in Windows XP professional sp2 have no problem
to setup. But when I use the disk that created from the first desktop
computer to setup the laptop with Windows XP home sp2, it does not show the
"My network places" on Start or My computer. It just like nothing happen. I
don't know why. The setup process seens no problem. My laptop is the
lastest Centrino 750.

What wireless hardware does your laptop have? Look under Network
Adapters in Device Manager (System applet in Control Panel). Check
these things:

1. That you really have wireless hardware built into the laptop.
2. If #1 above is true, that the hardware is properly installed and
there is no yellow exclamation mark next to it.
3. If all appears well with the wireless adapter, is there some laptop
mftr.-supplied wireless connectivity manager? Is it running? Try
disabling it and using Windows Wireless instead.
4. If it appears that you have hardware and there is nothing wrong with
it and you are not running the laptop wireless software, is there a
button or switch on the laptop to turn the wireless off and on? If so,
is the button ON?
