SM Bus controller problem

I have 2 systems running windows 2000 and windows ME when
ME boots there are no hardware errors. However when I load 2000 Pro I get the following

Intel(r) 8280Iba/BAM sm BUS controller-244
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance

Anyone know how to get a driver that will work or how to specify a function driver?
