How do you know? You don't even have Vista installed, do you?
Go back to loser linux land. I hear Urbuttoo needs your help.

It is slow unless you have at least 2 gigs and a fast processor. If you
are going to invest that much money, you might as well go back to XP
where the speed will really shine.

It's also slow if you buy a new PC with Vista, as the manufacturers add so
much crapware that I'm surprised Microsoft is not coming down on them... My
new laptop was completely wiped and reinstalled (_not_ from the
manufacturer's discs) and it screams along pretty fast...

Now that is a first... now you are blaming the extra bundled software for
poor vista performance?

Ok Dana.. keep vista with no programs at all installed.. and it "may" run or
crawl....
Install 50-100 programs like most people do, that include drivers, shell
extensions, services,
startup entries, then add spyware and antivirus scanners, and your vista
will be crawling like turtle with arthritis.....

that is funny, when I use PC Pitstop, the computer gets rated as one of the fastest in its class.
2 years old amd 3200 64 bit 1gb mem, ati aiw 9800 video.

on vista performance index am rated 4.1 because of processor, everything else is over 5.

you with the scolling little 90's sig...

pitstop and other similar programs do now simulate real life conditions ....

In reality vista is slower and there is no doubt about it. If you are seeing
it work fast,
it is a distorted perception you have.

When rebooting my TIVO, it takes F O R E V E R to boot up. It runs Linux!

Yeh, but Linux ain't Windoze. It doesn't have to be booted 5 times a day.
I've seen Linux web servers that were started up 5 or 6 years ago and
haven't been rebooted once since then. With Windoze you're lucky to get
through half a day before it doesn't require a reboot.

That comparison is absolutely idiotic. You do know this very well. I have yet to see a System that is not running a Web server that was not rebooted or Shut Off be it LINUX, Windows,Unix and etc. Just as you very well know you cannot compare a Tricycle to a Automobile

My productions system is a server and even though I run it 24\24 I do need to close it down occasionally for Service and Upkeep. I have 2 other machines that are not servers and I have Fedora on one of them on a sepate partition along with Vista. Have no trouble with either of them but the machine needs to be shut down everyday on account that it is not a server and does not need the 24\24 service plus does not need overheating for a hardware breakdown.

You should have explained this instead of giving the wrong impression

Not slow here on a 5 yr old system with P4 2.53GHz, and 1GB RAM. It's set
up as dual boot with XP and Vista Ultimate. I almost never boot into XP any
more, just monthly to get updates.

Peter, don't pay any attention to Doris as she is on heavy medication
and consuming alcohol at the same time.
It's disgraceful and Rock is very upset with her.
Well, it's called the awful truth, and it is!
Frank

Rock, I'm using a 5yo Packard Bell Desktop with a P4 2.0Ghz, 128 ATI
Graphics, and 1 Gig of Ram. Home Premium is flying!

You sound a little delusional yourself. I almost hate to break the news
to you...Rock is dead. Try to cut back on your snorting...Sometimes the
white stuff will make you see things.
