my internet (dial-up) connection speed was 52kbps and i was satisfied with it.
but then suddenly it drops to 46kbps without any reason i can think of.
the speed always stays the same no matter how many times I re-connect...

the first time it happen, i was only installing windows update and there's
NO other program being installed.

can anyone help me with this? I did run full system scan with norton 2004
and found nothing.

This is almost certainly due to a problem with your telephone line or a
device that's recently been added to it. There's nothing you can do in
Windows to make the modem connect faster than the line will support.

well, there's 1 thing that my sis' installed that day, it's a new telephone
that has caller ID function [i make the telephone cable parallel].
other than that, i can't think of anything else....

Remove it and see what happens to your connection speed.
