My XP os is extremely slow, i.e. in the desktop when I
douldble click an icon it takes up to 2 min to start. It
is really lagging. I already checked for viruses w/NAV
2003, disk cleanup, deleted cookies. It is still slow

There are several things you can do to improve the speed
of WinXP.

First, have you considered uninstalling NAV and utilizing
a live AV (where the scan be performed from online)? Try a
live version of House Call (made by the manufacturers of
PC-Cillin).

You might want to also try disabling the aesthetic
features in XP. Right click on 'My Computer' and choose
properties. There should be a tab named 'Advanced'. Choose
that tab and then press the first button at the top.
Choose 'Best Performance' and then Okay your way out. Also
try turning-off 'Active Desktop'.

Hope this helps.

Download Adaware (free version) from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
It detects and safely removes tracking cookies,
dataminers, dialers, and other objects from your computer
that can cause it to slow down. Make sure you
use "webupdate" before scanning so you have the latest ref
file as they are updated frequently.
