How can I speed up the time it takes Windows XP to
Startup? It seems like it is starting a lot of
applications by the time it tyakes to boot up when I
first turn the computer on!

Are you running Norton? Norton tends to put a lot of
unneccessary background processes on your computer that
will slow it considerably. Also, if you don't have it,
get spyware detection software. Ad-Aware, Spybot, and
SpySweeper are my suggestions. They all find different
things, so I would get them all. Download.com will
supply Ad-Aware and Spybot for free, and SpySweeper
allows a non-expiring free trial. Also, bring up your
task manager(ctrl+alt+del) and choose the processes tab.
Look for a process called khost. If you have this, you
have Kontiki, which is bad news for system performance.
You can find out how to get rid of it by doing a Google
search.

Try deinstalling applications you don't need.

Then download a good startup manager and remove the applications that
are being started but you don't need every day.

Get a very good startup manager from
http://www.virtuoza.com/InControl/product.php

If you have a lot of memory you shouldn't be concerned about that.
Just don't restart your PC often :)
