Slow to use on Startup

Hi All,
Every now and then when I turn the computer on and windows has loaded up, I
can still hear the hard drive. Sometimes it's my AVG anti virus checking my
files for bugs. I found that out by starting task manager and ending a few
processes until I found the culprit. But it's starting doing it today and it
wasn't my AVG and when ending a few processes in Task manager, it still
didn't stop. I can't start any programs until what ever is running has
stopped.
Can anyone tell me of any software that could show me what's running.

Don't worry about it. Windows performs all sorts of tasks in the
background. It's normal.
