Slow startup

HI

my machine has suddenly developed a variety of small
annoyances:
very slow start up
new tones for original sounds (very flat sounding)
new display was set and when taking it back to the
original resolution the font is still different
Unable to determine product ID
or able to schan for network conidition when using the
Help functions.

Have removed all spyware, defraged, preformed scan disk
and updated virus definitions and ran scan.

All clear!

Any ideas??? it just happened after I shut down Friday.

Have you been in control panel / Administative Tools / Services, and disabled anything ? Most of the items in there should be automatic or manual. Try and see if it's any faster.
