Slow startup

When I turn on the PC it boots up normally to show the
desktop. But, before the startup background programs are
loaded, the system is idle for 2-3 min. I tried runing
msconfig and turning off most of the Startup programs,
but that didn't solve the problem. I would appreciate
anyone's help.
 
Also have this problem PLUS once started, all programs
run at a snail's pace. Can't find a solution.

I have the same problem, but mine takes up to 5 minutes!!

No consolation, I have the same (4 mos now, no info anywhere to date).
Made errors in my 1st dscr. Just took it to new thread "OOPS."
