One thing to consider is memory. I know that the minimum
recomendations work but I run at least a gig in my
machines. Also, how many programs you have starting during
bootup can cause this. Make sure you have anti virus
software running and up to date and run a scan for viruses.
(sp). The next step would be to run a disk defrag- (start,
assessories, system tools). If you have ever had the
machine connected to a network and don't currently, the
machine could be looking for the old network connection.
These are some of the things to check first.

Tome this helps. Tom

Xp does load slow anyway. What kind of machine is it -
Processor wise and stuff. Also in the BIOS, make sure your
processor is running at the correct speed. I've had 2.4's
running at 1.2 because of some of the BIOS setings.
