Hi,

I have an ASUS K8N-E Deluxe mainboard with onboard sound from Realtek (Codec
AC'97 7.1).
When I install Windows, everything seems fine. After a while my sound is
playing slow. I've tried everything. I re-installed Windows XP pro, I've
installed Windows XP 64bit. I've re-installed sound drivers, I've installaed
latest drivers from realtek webside.

No mather what I do, it doesn't seem to help.

At last I installed my old sheap soundcard from C-media. Now my sound is
playing normal.

Can Anyone help me with this sound related hardware problem? Or does anyone
have the same problem?

Regards,

Dirk.

What do you mean "sound is playing slow?"
1. Low volume?
2. CPU overload?
3.What else?
If it's 1, check control panel, sound and audio devices for settings.
If it's 2, I suspect programs and apps. you install are slowing your system
or you have some IRQ or other resources conflicts. In this case, you have to
detect what program is causing the problem.
For peace of mind, I'd do a clean install of XP with the correct order of
driver installation (cannot help here since I use an intel board), then I'd
test my sound after installing each program/app. Of course, 64 bit drivers
might be an issue in themselves; I'd stick with Asus original audio drivers.

Well, the speed of music or other sounds (*.mp3, *.wav, ...) isn't right. The
sound is played at halve the speed. it ha snothing to do with volume or
anything. Last thing I dit was reinstalling windows XP and now averything is
playing at the right speed. Even on windwos XP 64bit.

I don't know what it was.
