After installing SP2 it now takes 3 minutes to shut down. Any suggestions
on how to speed it up?

check and see if maybe your computer is clearing out it's pagefile. And
if so, how big is the page file. Wait a minute - lemme see here.

In regedit.exe, nav to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Control\Session Mangager\Memory Management and check to see if a value
called ClearPageFileAtShutdown has a value of 1. If it does, either
change it to 0 or delete the key.

this migh help you.

BRUTE FORCE!!! Regretablly, SP2 is good to stop inward traffic but it
is very slow to shut down all and any running processes. Provided you
save everything before shutting down then using brute force is the only
way to shut it quickly. This means, switching off from th power or
keeping pressed the power button in Laptops.
