Slow Outlook

For about the last 2 weeks or so, my Outlook (part of
Office XP) started taking for ever to open. Most of the
time it takes at least 30 seconds now to open.

Not sure if it's purely coincidental, but my trial
subscription for McAfee personal firewall ran out right
around that time. Today I uninstalled the program.
thinking that there might be some connection there, but
there was no improvement.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

That worked perfectly. Thank you very much.

Now the question is, how come this happened? Did
something occur to check that box somehow or is there
something else wrong and this is a go around?

Thanks again, Frank

If I remember rightly that box is checked by default, all I can say is I
don't think anyone has come up with a reason why it happens, must admit not
to have looked for a fix instead of a workaround as it hasn't happened to me
yet :)

Hallelujah!!! Such a simple fix! I have a friend who
likes to say "I'm sure it will be a simple solution once
we know what the problem is" and that is certainly the
case here. Like "Frank" I have no idea how that feature
got checked in the first place since I have been running
Outlook for more than 2 years before this slowdown
problem occurred. I suspect that it has to do with one
of Microsoft's multitudinous updates which, rightly or
wrongly, I generally install unless I am certain I don't
need them. Anyway, blessings on you and I hope that
others afflicted with the same problem (and I have seen
that there are many) will also read this thread.

Glad it worked for you Jerry
