slow modem

4 or 5 days ago my modem was running about 48 Kbps,then I
downloaded the free Microsoft upgrade, and it is 26kbps.
How do I get my speed back ? can I "unload" this
download? Help !

Look in add/remove programs. The recent updates were
828035 and 824145.

If this was an update of modem drivers, go to Control Panel - System -
Hardware - Device Manager look for the modem and double click, on the
Drivers page click 'Roll back'

(Saying 'the' MS update is unhelpful, when they run about one a week, on
critical ones alone)
