slow loading

Using IE6 SP1 with WinXP Pro SP1. Up till a week ago the browser
opened instantly after double clicking the icon. All of a sudden a
lag/pause started before the browser opens.

I have completed every spyware, trojan, adware and virus scan there
is. the machine comes up clean every time. I have even visited special
forums that deal with spyware and have programs that can send them
scans of your system and nothing was found wrong with any of them.

I have not installed any new programs of fooled with the registry at
any time and this problem still exists.

One thing that is different is that if I click on a posted link, with
the browser closed, say in here or in a chat room, the browser opens
instantly as it always did instantly.

Any ideas of what could be causing this besides spyware, adware or a
trojan virus problem?

Is there a known issue about this with a fix?

You did not mention clearing TIF & history?
 
I have the same problem and have tried everything. This is on a new install and I believe that it is related to an update. I'll post here if I find anything helpful to do about it
