I have Windows XP, IE 6.0 sp2 and run on a cable modem
connection 28.8. I have plenty of memory left - cleaned
up today with chkdsk and compressed files, defragged and
now IE browser slowed to a crawl. Takes more than 30
seconds to load a page!

I tried to reinstall IE6. Downloaded it but when I try
to open it says 'A required resource cannot be located.'
Tried to do the 'run' with the /c:"ieXwzd.exe /d /s:""#E"
on the end but got the same message.

I've called and the cable company checked for problems -
spent about 1 1/2 hours on-line with them to no avail.

Downloading works fine. Opening other desktop icons work
fine. IE icon works fine - pops right up - but then each
page takes over 30 seconds to load.

Please help!!!

The same thing has happened on my system -- just starting this evening.
Everything worked fine when I left this afternoon, and I returned to find
this problem. No one else was in the house, and I am the only person who
ever uses this computer. I am connected via cable. I have a cable modem
and a Netgear router that I use as a firewall. In addition (also starting
just this evening), some pictures load but others just show a white box with
a thin black border (not even the red "X" sometimes seen when graphics will
not load). I have Norton AV, and ran a full scan. It did not detect any
problems.

Have others run into this problem, and does anyone know of a solution?

Thanks,
MaryL.

As I said in my previous message, I had the same problem. It suddenly
occurred to me to run Ad-Aware. That seems to have solved the problem. I
noticed that one of the problems it pinpointed was a file named "redsherrif
tracking cookie." My system seems to have recovered after running Ad-Aware.
In addition, I am going to go to Tools>Internet Option and delete files,
cookies, and history.

I hope this helps you, too.

My apologies! I thought I had solved my problem and that the "solution"
might also help you. However, I still have major problems -- some pages
simply result in a blank screen, and some won't open at all. For example, I
can't even get usatoday.com to open. So, I'll hope someone else can help
both of us.

I have Windows XP
....
I tried to reinstall IE6.

That is usually a mistake XP users make. See KB318378.
(I'm not going to elaborate since you've "tried everything".)

I tried deleting all cookies and temp files. Still no
help.

Thanks for your info. I'm still trying to get this to
work!
