Hi

I'm not sure where I should post this, my Internet connection is very
erratic, it is not an Internet Explorer problem because I tried Firefox
(sorry) and it was no difference.

I am running XP Home on a modern PC I connect to the internet over a
wireless connection to a Wireless Router which is connected to a ADSL
router.

My connection is always around 54Mbps and rated as Very Good.

When I click on a link the little screen showing I am connected lights up
fore a couple of seconds then dies, If I click on the link it lights up
again, each click seems to help a bit and eventually I get to the site.

When I download a file it goes slower and slower even from the MS site.

I have tried DRTCP and it help for a while, now it has slowed down again and
but I cannot even get the Tweak site to work.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

thanks

Daniel

But isn't the 54Mbps and Very Good connection an indication that the speed
is good?

cheers

Okay,

I have tried to run the speed tedt but it does not even complete,
after about one minute it just hangs there, the lighted scrren just
goes out and nothing happens???

Sounds like you need to contact your ISP about whether or not they are
having an incident. It may be your modem as well, which you should also
have your ISP check in person, at your house.

Thanks but I have more news, I set up a different PC on this connection and
it runs 100%.

It must be something in the configuration of the internet access, but I
don't know where to look, as I said beforte it is not IE because Firefox
does the same thing.

cheers

Could be your NIC card but changing that might trigger activation. Did
you compare the configurations of the two computers?

Go to Broadband Reports at the following website;
http://www.dslreports.com/tools

Do a SPEED TEST and more importantly, the TWEAK TEST. Check the results and
see what recommendations they have. It may be that you only need to do a
couple of little tweaks!

Hope this helps.

thanks for your response, I did try the dslreports site but my connection
does not last long enough to
run the tweak test, I ran drtcp and changed some settings according to an
average, but it did not work.
