Slow Internet when logged onto Windows 2000 Server

Just a quick question with hoping that someone can help
shed some light on this problem. I have set up a server
with Windows 2000 and have all Windows XP Pro
workstations. My problem stems from the internet
connection which is via satellite. When logged on very
early in the morning in our time zone (Newfoundland, CAN)
the speed, while not as fast as DSL/Cable, is
respectable. As the day progresses the speed drops and
sometimes dramatically. But what is strange is that as
soon as I log onto the computer and not the network,
which still gives me internet access, the internet speed
seems faster. Does anyone have any thought on this issue?

sounds like DNS issue. since you have a 2000 server, you may want to install
an internal DNS instead of using isp DNS.
