I have a home network set up with a xp machine and a
millenium machine connected to a linksys befsr41 router
which is in turn connected to broadband cable via a
motorla surfbaord.
My problem is that when I send files from the xp machine
to the Me machine the file transfer speed is rediculously
slow (eg 250mb file being esimated to tke 60 mins) If I
send the same file from the Me machine to the Xp one the
file only take a matter of second as it should be.
Can anyone please tell me what the hell is going on
here????

Try using the same credentials (username/password) on both PCs;
that made a huge difference on XP-W9x transfers across my home
LAN, although XP was still slower by roughly a factor of two.
