AutoCAD is a resource hog....how much RAM are you running in the box? If it's less than
512Mb, I'd consider adding more....

It will not make any difference adding the RAM we have done so and are still experiencing slow down when openning drawings from a XP pro station. It's fine when opening on a 2000 pro workstation with less RAM.

1) The XP hard drive may be in major need of defragging.

2) You may have QOS installed in Networking on the XP machine. It may be
causing a slowdown over the net.

I have uninstalled Qos from the network adaptor it has increased the speed a little thanks. It is still annoying slow to work with though any more ideas?

I solved our problem it was the files had digital signitures attached to them you need to run this application

C:\windows\system32\AcSignOpt.exe

Then unselect the tick box and restart your machine it worked a treat for me.
