Slow DVD writing

Hi there,

I've got a normal / generic dvd writer (8x) and every time I try to
write to a dvd using it -it takes forever - sometimes over 4 hours.

The cdr writing function on it is fine (3-4 mins). I've tried using
nero and other burning packages but it never seems to get any faster.
Can anybody help me please?

Hello,

Please, provide further information, which would be quite helpful to
anybody trying to diagnose the problem(s).

Such as:

Your DVD drive's model number; the computer's hardware specifications
and operating system; drivers; DVD software versions; blank media...and
whatever else is involved, with respect to this burning issue (pun
intended).
