Slow Drop Down Menus

Every time I attach, open or access a file through a drop
down menu, the system takes about 20 seconds to access
the files.

I have tried upgrading from office 2000 to XP. I have
tried uninstalling office and re-installing it. I have
updated the video driver. I made sure that animated
menus were turned off. I checked the disk space and
memory; they are both fine.

I have a compaq running Windows 2000 SP4 with all the
latest updates, Office XP with a 20 GB hard drive that is
75 % free, 256 MB of Ram and a pentium 4 processor.

This problem happens with any program, Microsoft or not.

Any suggestions to speed these drop down menus up?

.
Ensure you do not have a mapped drive to a non exsist
share and that you are actually able to access all the
shares you have mapped.
