I run spybot and ad-aware almost daily. But I still get pop-up ads and the
entire computer works slow. However, I do have 12 gigabits of music. Is my
computer running slowly because of all my music files. If so is there a way I
tweek my memory settings to allow my computer to run faster by focusing my
virtual memory in my music folder.

12Gigs of Music shouldnt be a problem unless you have a 15Gig Hard
Drive. How much available space do you have left
on your hard drive? Have you done a Defrag lately?

With Spybot, be sure you have version 1.3 and the latest "includes", meaning
spy-definitions. Then, be sure to "imunize". It is NOT sufficient to just
press the main immunize button. You also need to press the small green
cross in the upper left, once you get into the immunize screen.

As for slowness, try using the XP task manager to see what the PC is doing,
and specifically what program is using the CPU cycles. This is accessed by
a single CTRL-ALT-DEL. Look under proceses, not applications.

A defrag would not hurt, but it probably will not help much, unless you are
actively using many files. Running CHKDSK C: /F, accepting the offer to do
it during a reboot, then rebooting might weed-out file system problems. If
CHKDSK find problems, then run it without the /F to verify that they were
all fixed. If not, try it with the /R option, but that will take a long
time (many minutes to hours).
