Slow broadband downloads.

My connection to the internet is by cable broadband. My download speeds are
really slow - less than 5kb/sec. The ISP technician said that the problem is
in my computer - possibly Norton internet security and anti-virus software. I
checked this out through the Norton website but there was no improvement. Can
anyone suggest a cause and way of fixing it?

I can't recall a URL right now, but look up one of the diag sites
that can test your DSL speeds, in order to eliminate the modem
and house wiring & wiring to your telco.

Since you mention cable, I have to wonder if perhaps there aren't
just too many other subscribers on that same line with you? The
diags will show if it's a line problem or not.

Then I 'd start looking for adware and spyware after a thorough
virus scan and drivers reinstalls for the modem.
