My computer all of a sudden takes a half hour to bootup
how do I remedy this? I have updated all patches and have
the the most up to date virus protection and have scanned
for virus as well and came up free before this happened.
I have a Dell l000 running XP Home.

Hello!
What is your machine's hardware specification?Have you
updated your BIOS? What happens in Safe Mode? Also look for
trojans,sometimes antivirus softwares can't detect
trojans. In the start up programs load only those which are
absolutely necessary and discard the unnecessary applications.

Disk defragmentation, check disk, disk cleanup are necessary
tools To run a computer smoothly.
There is a very good tool-BOOTVIS.EXE to reduce booting
time but it is unavailable at this moment.
