Slow Application Lauch via double-click, not via File->Open

I have an odd issue. Running XP Pro SP2, Dell P4 1.4
with 768 meg.

Whenever I double-click on a file to launch it from the
desktop (pdf, office, windows media player, and non-
microsoft) it takes 15-20 sec to open. When I open the
same file within in the appropriate program via File-
open, the launch is nearly instantenous. This happens

with all files. Relatively new issue that started before
I installed SP2 and continues after I installed it.

Any ideas of where to look? This is driving me nuts.

Hi PhiL,

I had exactly the same symptoms.
I found the solution here :

It was a context menu problem. In my case, the application responsibl
for it was ICQ v4.0...
