Hi All,
I am wondering why when i try to see a picture file located in the desktop
with the Windows XP Image and Fax viewer it takes alot of time to open, i
made the test in some other PC's and i does not happen in those.

Is there any way to fix this.

Thank you and regards,

Could be your video driver needs an update... Go to the manufacturer's web site and
look around for a newer driver.
Meanwhile, slide the acceleration down on your adapter, see if that helps. Control
panel, display folder, settings tab, advanced button, troubleshoot tab...

I have a similar problem. When I double-click a JPG or any image, the
Windows Picture Viewer starts but displays "Generating Preview..." for an
inordinate amount of time. Eventually, after 30 seconds or so, it works.

My video drivers are up-to-date (just checked) and I have a very fast system.

I do not experience lags with any other programs.

Could there be a dud cached setting or something that is causing it to
hiccup? I had a similar problem with Disk Cleanup forever hanging; I was able
to fix it by changing a setting in the registry. NOw it works.

Thanks for any help.

You guys have probably switched computer a few times by now, but this is such a rare problem that I shall comment on it anyway.
The 30 seconds delay on some desktop actions is usually caused by having a shared folder icon on the desktop. You need not have accessed it or anything, its bare presence there is enough. Move such icons to any other location than the desktop and all should be well.
