Hello

I have 2 XP machines linked together at home. One uses the other to access
the internet and I have used the wizard to set all the connections up.

The problem is that it takes a long time to get to the required shared
folder using My Network Places. Every stage I click on, the egg-timer cursor
stays for about 30 seconds each time I click.

I know I can map network drives etc and have done so but I'm wondering if
the transfer speed is slow as well.

Anyone have any ideas regarding this problem and also, tips on optimising
this sort of network?

Thank you for your attention and any help you can give me.

David

Hi David!. I have identically the same problem, but first of my two
computers has WinXp and the second Win2k Professional. The problem appears
only when I'm trying to get the resources from Win2k machine. I removed the
special key from registry {D6277990-4c6a-11cf-8d87-00aa0060fsbf} from
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Explorer\remoteComputer\nameS
pace}, but that doesn't help. Maybe this is the security problem (access
rights)??
