I have an XP Pro SP1 CD into which I want to slipstream SP2

I tried two methods: using the "integrate" switch with the SP2 file,
and, extracting the file and running the "update" command. Both failed,
the hourglass runs a couple of seconds and thats it, no message and no
updating.

do I need SP1A? how can I tell? any other suggestions

TIA

is the update command problematic?
I never had to use a third party program before (win2k) to slipstream
out of curiosity I slipstreamed sp1a and it worked, maybe I need the
cumulative rollup too

that is one of the instructions I followed (the update command)

it isn't doing anything

I did in the end. I am still curious why the standard procedure doesn't
work.

OT does anybody know if you can slipstream office service packs? I asked
a fdew times back for O2K on the office groups but nobody seemed to know
what I was talking about.
