What I would like to do is install XP Pro, some other software and burn that image to a DVD. When I need to do a reinstall, be able to put the dvd in the drive and have it format the HD, copy the image to the HD and all that, without having to reinstall everything, each time

I would also like to backup certain files (address book, outlook mail folders) and restore after the reinstall. What do I need for software and how would I go about it

Thanks much

A disk imaging program such as Norton Ghost or Image for Windows (from
http://www.bootitng.com) will create the image that you want.

To save your current user data files you can use the Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard in Windows XP and burn that output to a DVD
or CDR as well.

Good luck
