Slight pause in win XP

I just installed XP Pro on my pc. I think it is great except for 1
problem. Every min or 2 the computer will have a slight pause for
about a 1/2 sec. I have checked and there seem to be no driver
conflicts. I know it may not seem like much but it is very annoying
when you are listening to music or watching a dvd. Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem where when I was playing MOHAA, and trying to sniper
another player, the delay(s) were hampering my abilities to shoot a moving
target. I ran MSConfig, and disabled everything. Then re-enabled each
service and program that loaded on boot one-at-a-time and found the culprit,
