I do not know much about the Mac version of PowerPoint, you may want to
check in with that group to be sure.
In the Windows version, the method you describe should work when the user
selects Apply or Apply To All from the background dialog box, but not
everything works the exact same between the different platforms. What I
would do, is ...
1) try to insert the picture as a regular picture and see if it travels with
the presentation (if this works, then the problem is with the insertion
method)
2) try to convert the .jpeg to a .png and see if inserting that format holds
(if this works then the problem is with the image file). If you need a free
conversion tool, look into IrfanView (
www.irfanview.com).
There are many regulars that use both platforms, perhaps one of them has
some better insight into this than I.
