Installed these. Make a test call. I hear the voice broken
up. It was fine in the past. What can I do to get the voice
to work without breaking up?

Thanks.

Ask the makers of the programs in question.

Ensure your machine is clean of malware of all types.
(SuperAntiSpyware, MalwareBytes, an updated antivirus software as well...)

Ensure you have the latest hardware drivers (for your chipset, network
device and audio in particular.)
(Visit the hardware manufacturer's web page for each of thos devices or
your OEM's web page with your make/model ready to enter where needed in the
support/downloads section.)

Someone in my house uses Skype, and I don't know that Yahoo! has
anything to do with it. I think Yahoo! has nothing to do with it.
They do not work "together". Yahoo! itself as a WWW page does not get
downloaded to your computer, Skype as an application does.

First, be double dog sure you have the latest Skype updates. Don't
just download the "latest" and think you are good to go. Check the
versions. Be sure your Windows stuff is up to date.

Sometimes (!) we had seen some weird issues with broken audio, video,
a green bar in the video and other things. Sometimes it works fine.

Do an experiment or two. Try to see what happens if you initiate the
call or your friend makes the call. Try it both ways and see what
happens. Configure Skype not to start with Windows. Connect manually
instead of automatically on an incoming call. Manually turn on video
after connecting, etc.

This is good to know and you will be asked about it later so go ahead
and try it. It is good if it all works perfectly and automatically
every time, but it might not work perfectly everytime - ever. It is
free software and works pretty good for free stuff. I am on broadband
(screaming fast my ISP says) so I doubt you would even want to try on
a dial up line. Dunno about DSL,

The Skype community has a very decent user forum. Sign up.

They helped me with my "green bar video" keyword search and that was
all I knew to look for in their forum. I had to download the latest
(thought I had it, right!) and then made a slight adjustment they
recommended to my video acceleration settings. It works great now,
but I would have never thought to try that.

Their community has probably been through all this stuff and knows
about all kinds of problems and solutions.

Shenan,

Super AntiSpyware is a rogue product. Besides, it has nothing to do with
sound

OP,

My 2003 R2 server works fine using Skype with voice & video yet if I make a
voice call on Yahoo it screws it up. Have to turn the sound up each time I
finished with Yahoo. This has been an issue since version 8 of Yahoo

Version 4 of Skype is absolutely terrible in look... If you want dialog
boxes covering half your screen & huge contact pages then upgrade. If you're
like me, stay on 3.8.0.188

Furthermore, Skype seems to have a problem with Vista & sound. If for
example you use the same Skype phone, soundcard in Server 2003 R2 it's 100%
crystal clear sound. Put the same on Vista Business & it crackles (static)
with Skype (3.8 & 4.0) but not any other applications. Skype Support doesn't
have a clue

Skype Support's e-mail address is: (e-mail address removed)

Let's hope you don't get dealt with by Indre as she is absolutely totally
incompetent. She will give you irrelevant advice like hope you haven't left
your car door open when using Skype or is your washing machine turned off?
Basically she knows as much as the most novice user ever to touch a computer
& just tries to guess things because she has no computer knowledge
whatsoever

SuperAntiSpyware is *not* a rogue product. Where did you get that idea
from?
(Please post supporting web links.)

If you are mistaking "SuperAntiSpyware" for "Super AntiSpyware 2009" - I can
see where you could make that mistaken identification from.

Discussions around the hype:
http://www.spywarevoid.com/remove-super-antispyware-2009-superantispyware2009-removal.html
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=197373&messageID=2123861

As for it having nothing to do with sound - it can get rid of the malware
that may have caused the issue with the sound and then the second half of
the advice I gave would get the sound going again. Cleaning up a machine is
rarely a BAD thing to do.
